Summer Lawn Care
Looking after and maintaining a beautiful lawn can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience, and the Summer is a good time of year to enjoy the your lawn for relaxation and play.
Mowing
At this time of year you may need to mow more often, maybe up to twice a week. Care must be taken if the temperature becomes very high as mowing your lawn too short will cause it to become stressed. Ensure that your mower blades are sharp and are set between 25mm and 40mm.
Watering
Irrigate as necessary dependant upon weather conditions. Ideally your lawn needs to be watered evenly during the early morning or early evening as these are the most beneficial times of day.
Feeding
As your lawn is in active growth it will require nutrients which are essential to providing a green and healthy lawn. We recommend feeding your lawn using Teal Turf fertiliser every 6 weeks during the growing season.
Dealing with Pests
If you notice that your lawn is growing slowly or turning yellowy brown in patches this could be due to lawn pests, the most common of these at this time are Leatherjackets and Chafer grubs. These pests can be controlled. Please refer to Lawn Pests and Diseases for further information.
